SOC starts with early season gravel rides on Thursdays evenings in August and then transition to 5:30-7:00 pm Tue/Thurs practices starting Tues Sep 4th.
Early season gravel rides will be about 20to 30 miles (around 2 hrs of ride time) on mixed surfaces like paved, gravel, single track, rough road, etc., Each August ride will have a different route and will start at a different location - Details will be sent out to registered riders via the TeamSnap APP.
The plan is to get out as a group, gain some fitness, challenge ourselves and have fun as we start to prepare for the upcoming CX race season. These are no drop rides that are open to team riders, parents and coaches who can ride the distance in or around 2 hrs. (14 to 15 mph average). Please brings lights, rear blinking/small front, spare tube, water and energy snacks. Please note, you must complete the SOC registration before participating in any SOC rides.
September Wed Night Races at the Riverside Airstrip are free for all kids and are a blast for the entire family. The event atmosphere and loop race course make cross races spectator friendly. https://velonw.com/?page_id=3552
SOC is finalizing details on the other local race dates and venues. We will update everyone once we have confirmation. Currently races are being planned for middle Oct to early Nov. More soon.
SOC depends on volunteers for coaching, help with race operations and support for practices and other SOC events. We will use signup genius to help organize volunteers for the different areas. Our races need a lot of family volunteer support to pull off so please look out for the signup forms and be ready to pitch in and have fun doing it.
SOC uses the TeamSnap mobile app to communicate. Practice updates will be sent out via this app. Everyone is expected to use the app to RSVP for practice and event attendance.
Early season gravel ride practice locations and times will be coordinated via the Team Snap App. September 4 to Nov practices will typically be Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 to 7:00 at Minnehaha Park close to Esmerelda Golf Course. Updates and practice details will be sent out via the Team Snap App.
School of Cross depends on donations, sponsors and volunteers to be able to operate. All families are invited to volunteer in some way (coach, bring food/drink, support races, provide mechanical support for rides and races, etc). With sufficient sponsorship and family support, we are able to keep costs low. Since our current sponsorship levels are low, we are asking families to pay a $50 enrollment fee to help pay for part of the insurance, race, park rental and other SOC program expenses.
